First established in 1927, this boutique hotel opened its doors once again in 2012 with retro furnishings and nostalgic furnishings from the early 1900s. Located on vibrant Jalan Besar Road, Kam Leng Hotel provides free local calls, free wired internet and free Wi-Fi.

What was the highlight of Kam Leng Hotel

A great value hotel with excellent location, but be wary of which floor you are staying on.

The location is excellent, right beside a famous Nasi Lemak and across a major bus stop, a 7 eleven store and near many great coffee places and restaurants. The bed is nice and all the amenities are there. The concierge was helpful and the place has a very cozy Peranakan vibe.

The light in the room is very dim and please avoid staying on the second floor near the window, the amount of noise coming in was unbelievable, I can hardly sleep the entire night! They should soundproof the windows better. Last time I stayed on the 4th floor and it wasn't an issue.

A little far out from centre. A little smelly in the bathroom and loud outside. Still very reasonable for money.

What we liked is the location

During the last day after checkout the hotel allowed us to keep our baggage which most hotel does. But bad part was when we came back to collect we asked for Water for our 2 year old baby but they said they don’t have water. I asked him how can he will not have a water when two complimentary bottles being served everyday to all Customers. Just because We checked out they refused to offer water to our daughter. We felt it wasn’t good. One cup of water for a baby definitely would have been a good thing for any human to do.

What was the highlight of Kam Leng Hotel

It is our first and last.

I am a frequent visitor to Singapore and am familiar with the standard of cleanliness and facilities provided at budget hotels in the island republic. Although the room size at most of these hotels is a letdown, they are generally clean. We were therefore utterly disappointed with the rundown condition of Kam Leng Hotel and the awful smell, apparently from worn carpet, that greeted us upon entering the first room facing the street that we were given. We requested for an alternative room that turned out to be in no better condition, thus leaving us with no choice but to bear the smell for two nights. Moreover, my partner found and killed a cockcroach in this alternative room which is at the back of the hotel facing a noisy construction site. We could not help but felt we were ripped off as our booking was non-refundable. We would have been only too happy to cancel the booking even with a 30% penalty charge if given that option. For your information, the next hotel at Tiong Bahru that we checked into for the next three days was a refreshing change. The New Cape Inn, despite being rated a 2-star facility as compared to Kam Leng Hotel's 3-star, offers a much better experience in terms of cleanliness, room size, facilities, services and location, Besides, the room rates at these two hotels are the same, about S$100 per night.

The non-refundable clause should never have been included in the booking of rooms at Kam Leng Hotel.

We stay at second floor , we can’t sleep well due to we can hear the vehicle passby sound and our room near the main road . Please improve this issue .

Value for Money Hotel

It was near town area and in between 2 different MRT lines. There are also ample buses to reach the hotel. The location has a lot of eateries which is within walking distance from the hotel. Most importantly, there is 7-11 store just opposite the hotel. The decoration of the hotel is very nostalgic, which is something different from other hotels.

The hotel is located along a major road, which have a lot of car traffic. I was given a room facing this major road and the windows do not have good sound proofing. So, I was disturbed by the noise generated by all the traffic, especially the heavy vehicles like buses.

I like the location of the hotel which is very convenient and 5 mins walk to the train station.

There were construction going on during our stay and it was very noisy.

Easy breezy.

Easy, affordable, cheap and the beds were extremely comfortable.

It smelled like mildew and was extremely humid when I first stepped in. Needs to figure out how to air-out the room without aircon.

I like that the staff was really friendly.

I like that the staff was really friendly. It is a nice hotel with good rooms.

The carpet in the rooms: the room have this preculiar damp smell, I am not sure about the other rooms but ours did, which is not good. I believe it is the carpets. They need to do something about it.
